What’s Linkin Park?

Linkin Park is an American rock band, formed in 1996. The band rose to international fame with their debut album “Hybrid Theory”  (2000). Linkin Park was founded by three high school friends: Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon, and Brad Delson.

After graduating from high school, the three began to take their musical interests more seriously, recruiting Joe Hahn, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, and Mark Wakefield to perform in their band, Xero.

The lack of success and stalemate in progress prompted Wakefield, at that time the band’s vocalist, to leave the band in search of other projects.

After spending a considerable time searching for Wakefield’s replacement, Xero recruited Arizona vocalist Chester Bennington.

The band then agreed on changing its name from Xero to Hybrid Theory; the newborn vocal chemistry between Shinoda and Bennington helped revive the band, inciting them to work on new material.

Finally, the band initially wanted to use the name “Lincoln Park”, however they changed it to “Linkin” to acquire the internet domain “linkinpark.com”.

“Talking with you about the years ahead together, your excitement was infectious. Your absence leaves a void that can never be filled—a boisterous, funny, ambitious, creative, kind, generous voice in the room is missing. “

“We’re trying to remind ourselves that the demons who took you away from us were always part of the deal. “

“After all, it was the way you sang about those demons that made everyone fall in love with you in the first place. You fearlessly put them on display, and in doing so, brought us together and taught us to be more human. “

“You had the biggest heart, and managed to wear it on your sleeve. “

“Our love for making and performing music is inextinguishable. While we don’t know what path our future may take, we know that each of our lives was made better by you. “

“Thank you for that gift. We love you, and miss you so much. “

How did Chester Bennington die?

His body was discovered on the morning of July 20, 2017. It is believed that he hanged himself at a private residence in Los Angeles.

Bennington, 41, had a history of alcohol and drug abuse and depression and had spoken openly in the past about his struggles when Linking Park first found fame in 2000 with their best-selling debut album “Hybrid Theory”.

And he hinted at suicidal thoughts in one of his last songs ever written.

The band’s second to last single “Heavy, released in February 2017, appeared to hint at his troubled state of mind. Focusing on the topic of depression, it contained haunting lyrics including:

“I don’t like my mind right now // Stacking up problems that are so unnecessary // Wish that I could slow things down”

In the chorus, he talks about how he is dragging around issues that are bringing him down before chillingly adding:

“If I just let go, I’d be set free.”

The track was written by bandmates Chester Bennington, Brad Delson, and Mike Shinoda, alongside Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter.

The band have said that lyrically, the inspiration for Heavy came from their conversations about frustrations and troubles in their own lives.

Mike previously revealed that Chester was really struggling on the day the song was written.

From the howls on debut single One Step Closer to the still incendiary vocals of his later years, Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington was one of rock’s most emotionally dextrous frontmen.

A thousand Suns might have been awful as a whole, but this song, along with Iridescent has certainly outclassed all of Linkin Park’s other song… You can just feel the song, the lyrics are MINDBLASTING…

7.    What I’ve Done

(Album: Minutes to Midnight)

(for the transformers movies)

Easily their best song, even with stiff competition from New Divide, Numb, and Papercut. Linkin Park takes awesome lyrics and pairs them with a haunting melody that is simply mesmerizing. Maybe someday it would beat numb too.

This song should be no.2 or 3 …?

Anyway,  Chester is undoubtedly the best vocalist of the best band ever…

Loved this the day I heard it, love it just as much now, years later

Papercut should be among top 5! I can’t believe that…

This song is awesome as hell.

Just and awesome Song, have to listen to it loud no other way!

… woohh… this is also my favorite song.

I like the screaming part.

Linkin Park is the only rock band that can pull off rap/rock.

I really love this song. The lyrics are awesome and have a great meaning. My next favorite song would be “Numb” but this is the one I have listened to since it came out and will always be my favorite.

Whenever I go to karaoke with my Canadian friend, we always sing this song!

It makes me feel like WOW.

Everything’s perfect.

It soothes the soul.

Just once I hear… I can’t stop playing it again and again.

Most people choose this song for the best of Linking Park.

Linkin Park forever!

It’s a very beautiful song having a very good meaning… One should listen it at least once…
